About
Susannah Coleman-Brown is a Tasmanian-based vocalist, session singer, and interdisciplinary artist with over 20 years of experience in music practice, performance, and education. Tertiary qualified and deeply grounded in contemporary and experimental vocal traditions, her work spans songwriting, improvisation, and collaborative composition.
Susannah’s vocal style is expressive, intuitive, and responsive — shaped by a long-standing engagement with improvisation and the voice as both musical and embodied instrument. Alongside her performance practice, she has recently completed postgraduate research at the University of Tasmania, exploring interdisciplinary approaches that combine vocal improvisation and visual art-making.
As a vocal coach, Susannah offers thoughtful, individualised tuition for children and adults, creating a supportive space where students can develop confidence, healthy vocal technique, and a genuine connection to their own voice and creativity.
“It's refreshing to hear an authentic voice that goes unashamedly into a world of emotion, connection and soulfulness.”
Saxophonist/Composer/Academic
“Susannah Coleman-Brown soars in her own space, expressing freely with a refreshing view that is deep and yearning. Always surprising the listener with whimsical lyric and vocals that are stirring and at times delivered with such breathtaking stillness, then alive again with passion.”
